Financial and Operational Overview

Ahmad Shahzad Hamidi, Class of 2023

As valued supporters of our vision and mission, we are excited to update you on FEDAA’s operational and financial performance.

Impact on Afghan Lives
Education is at the heart of our mission, as we believe it is the cornerstone of sustainable development and lasting peace. FEDAA’s scholarship program stands as a beacon of hope for many young Afghans who dream of pursuing higher education but face insurmountable financial barriers.

In all, the lives of more than thirteen FEDAA Scholars were transformed last year because people like you looked at the world as it is and decided to invest in the power and potential of education.

We expect to award another 10 FEDAA Scholarships for the 2024 calendar year bringing to 23 the number of 4-year FEDAA Scholarships offered to date.

By providing scholarships, you are not only opening doors to academic institutions but also to a future filled with possibilities by:

  • Breaking Financial Barriers: For many families, the cost of higher education is an overwhelming obstacle. Our scholarships ensure that financial constraints do not hinder bright and motivated students from reaching their full potential.

  • Empowering Future Leaders: Access to higher education is transformational. Scholarship recipients will return to their communities as doctors, engineers, teachers, and entrepreneurs, driving positive change and fostering development.

  • Fostering Diversity and Inclusion: We prioritize support for underrepresented groups, including women, ethnic minorities, and individuals from remote regions. By doing so, we are helping to create a more equitable and inclusive society where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.

  • Building a Knowledge Economy: Graduates bring innovation, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to the workforce, which are essential for Afghanistan’s progress and competitiveness on a global scale.

Ahmad Shahzad Hamidi, Class of 2023

One inspiring example is Ahmadzia Hadi, Class of 2023, who because of a FEDAA scholarship, is now studying engineering. Coming from a rural village where access to education was limited, Ahmadzia is determined to use “my degree to improve infrastructure and create sustainable solutions for my community.” His journey exemplifies how higher education can transform individual lives and contribute to national development.

The impact of FEDAA’s scholarship program extends far beyond individual success stories. It creates a ripple effect, fostering a culture of learning and aspiration within communities. As Scholarship recipients achieve their goals and make significant contributions to society, they inspire others to pursue their educational dreams, creating a cycle of empowerment and progress.

We are deeply grateful for your continued support, which makes FEDAA Scholarships possible. Together, we are not only changing individual lives but also shaping the future of Afghanistan, one scholar at a time.

Your Support Fuels Our Success

Much remains to be done but if our efforts in these past years have taught us anything, it is that our model is strong and that we will achieve our goals with your support.

Thank you for being an integral part of this transformative journey.

¹ These assets exclude Joan Kayeum’s generous posthumous contribution of $100,000 in 2024 which has significantly bolstered our Foundation's mission, and reflects her enduring commitment to our cause.
² The term “Hamkaran” translates to “Partners” in Persian. The Hamkaran program is designed to support Scholars’ success. FEDAA funds monthly luncheons at restaurants of the Scholars’ choice, allowing them to get to know each other better and foster strong connections that enable mutual support and engender life-long friendships. Additional Hamkaran activities will be launched in the future.
